pisa32 At the IWAS Wheelchair Fencing Pisa World Cup 2017, GBR took four medals in four events. This wonderful achievement by Piers Gilliver and Dimitri Coutya shows the hard work and dedication by the two athletes and all of their coaches and support staff.

Piers Gilliver (Cat. A) entertained the crowed and surprised all of his opponents in his sabre debut at international competition, achieving a gold medal in his first sabre event against the 2016 Paralympian Champion, Andrii Demchuck (UKR). This was followed on day 2 by a gold medal in Epee, beating Matteo Betti (ITA) with a very convincing score of 15-3.

Dimitri Coutya  (Cat. B) continues to impress with both weapons, achieving a silver medal in Foil against the Paralympian Anton Datsko (UKR),  and a bronze medal  in Epee against Alan Surajewski (POL) who went on to win the gold.

We congratulate both of these outstanding athletes who are an inspiration to para-athletes all over the world.
